Cost Accountant (M/F/X) – Leading International Company, West of Brussels

Job Description:
As Cost Accountant, you report to the Accounting Manager and support with the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of key expense categories at group level, with a primary focus on IT expenses, marketing costs, consultancy fees, and the financial follow-up of external partnerships. In this position, you play a crucial part in ensuring transparency, cost control, and accuracy of financial data, directly supporting strategic decision-making. Your work involves close coordination with Finance, Procurement, IT, Marketing, and senior management to drive efficiency and deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
* Track and follow up on IT and Marketing project expenditure at the European level, working collaboratively with department heads.
* Oversee the daily administration related to invoices and purchase orders.
* Verify and allocate invoices, ensuring compliance with controls pertaining to legal entity data and VAT claims.
* Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, intercompany recharges, and adjustments.
* Analyze variances against budgets, forecasts, and previous periods;

* Support financial reporting and present findings to department and partnership managers.
* Contribute to the capitalization and depreciation processes, including integrity checks.
* Maintain effective communication with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Assist in the preparation of internal and external audits.
* Help with budget preparation activities.
* Ensure compliance with IFRS and local GAAP standards.
* Provide administrative support on various ad-hoc projects.
* Implement and improve procedures to maintain robust accounting controls and records, in line with company standards.
* Participate in the deployment of new control systems and optimization of cost allocation keys.
* Support European projects (systems, mergers, policy and procedure maintenance).
* Provide training for new and current team members as needed.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate:
* Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent through experience.
* Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the Services or Retail sector and within an international context.
* Experience in a multi-country or shared service center environment is a plus.
* Sound knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP is advantageous.
* Experience with SAP is required;
SAP S/4HANA familiarityis a plus.
* Fluent in English;
proficiency in French or German is a strong asset. Other European languages are valuable.
* Advanced knowledge of Excel and solid command of other Microsoft Office applications.
* Proactive, organized, and analytical, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
* Willingness to occasionally travel for business purposes.
