We are seeking an elite .NET Developer (Freelance) for an 18-month project in Brussels, Belgium. Join a high-impact team driving digital transformation for our client, shaping the architecture and future of essential public digital services.

What You'll Be Doing
Lead the technical design and development of robust .NET-based solutions, ensuring alignment with the client's reference architecture and roadmap.
Collaborate with architects, product owners, scrum masters, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable systems.
Coach and mentor developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Drive the adoption of event-driven architecture, CQRS, and Domain Driven Design (DDD) principles.
Advise on technical choices related to coding, testing, deployment, infrastructure, and support.
Document technical solutions using Enterprise Architect or similar tools, and safeguard architectural principles and standards.
Review and challenge plans, designs, and implementations to ensure best practices and architectural integrity.
Contribute to the evolution of open-source codebases and share knowledge within the wider builder community.
Champion Agile methodologies, actively participating in grooming, planning, and retrospectives.
Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines as part of a project funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility.
Technical Skills
Expert-level experience in .NET (C#), ASP.NET, and Entity Framework Core
Deep knowledge of event sourcing (CQRS), event-driven architecture, and Domain Driven Design (DDD)
Hands-on with AWS (including SQS, Lambda, ElastiCache), Microsoft Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
Proficient in SQL Server, SqlStreamStore, Redis, AggregateSource, Confluent Kafka
Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines (Terraform, GithubActions)
Monitoring and dashboard technologies (Datadog, Application Intelligence, CloudWatch, etc.)
RESTful API design (Async APIs), security protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect)
Service management / API management
Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence), GitHub, GIT
Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, including leading teams in an Agile environment
Bonus: Experience with GIS systems, NetTopology Suite, GeoSecure, ACM/IDM, JSON LD, Linked Data (OSLO), AtomFeed,
Open-source contribution mindset; codebase reference: GitHub
Language Proficiency
Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory
