MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - WEST FLANDERS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in machine design to develop robust, high-performance mechanical systems, equipment, and automation solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for designing machines and mechanisms that operate reliably in real-world industrial environments, often under demanding conditions, tight tolerances, and high-duty cycles.You will be involved across the full engineering lifecycle, from early-stage concept development and system architecture through detailed mechanical design, CAD modelling, prototyping, testing, and production support. This includes working on complex assemblies involving motion systems, structural frameworks, power transmission, and integrated mechanical subsystems.A key part of this role is turning functional requirements into engineered machine solutions that are not only technically sound, but also manufacturable, serviceable, and cost-effective. You will collaborate closely with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into complete machine platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role that blends analytical thinking with practical problem-solving and real-world build experience.Key Responsibilities:Design mechanical systems, machines, mechanisms, and automation equipmentDevelop 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and assembly documentationPerform engineering calculations for strength, motion, tolerance, and performanceSelect materials, components, bearings, actuators, and drive systemsDesign for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and reliabilitySupport prototyping, machine build, testing, and validation activitiesTroubleshoot mechanical issues and improve existing machine designsCollaborate with electrical and controls engineers on system integrationEnsure compliance with safety standards and industry regulationsSupport production teams during manufacturing and commissioningRequired Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldStrong experience in machine design or industrial equipment designProficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)Solid understanding of mechanics, kinematics, and machine elementsExperience with tolerance analysis and engineering drawings (GD&T)Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, fabrication, assembly)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsThe Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
