MECHANICAL ENGINEER - GEEL (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will work on machine design. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of industrial machinery and mechanical systems from initial concept through to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and full production support.You will play a key role in delivering robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable engineering solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with electrical, controls, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into complete machine systems.You will be involved in developing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges, producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, and supporting the build and commissioning of prototype and production machines.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for machinery and equipmentProduce detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using industry-standard software (e.G., SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo)Perform engineering calculations for strength, tolerance, motion, and material selectionDevelop concepts based on customer requirements and internal specificationsCreate and maintain technical documentation, BOMs, and design recordsCollaborate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibilitySupport prototype build, testing, validation, and iterative improvementsEnsure compliance with relevant safety standards and industry regulations (e.G., CE/UKCA where applicable)Provide technical support during manufacturing and assembly stagesIdentify opportunities for cost reduction, design optimization, and performance improvementRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline2–5+ years of experience in machine design or special-purpose machineryStrong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)Good understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processesExperience with mechanical components such as gears, bearings, actuators, pneumatics, and structural framesAbility to interpret technical drawings and specificationsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExperience working in cross-functional engineering teamsThe Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
