Job Summary:
Conduct audit reviews by independently and objectively evaluating the adequacy, effectiveness and integrity of the policies, practices and systems of controls within the operations of The Maritime Financial Group ensuring conformance with the legal and regulatory frameworks of Trinidad and Tobago and the Company's policies and procedures in an effort to manage risk effectively and improve efficiency.
Primary Accountabilities
1. Plan and execute risk based and corporate governance audit reviews as per the annual audit plan by developing audit programs, testing controls and documenting findings.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, internal controls and risk management processes within the audited areas by examining Company records for authenticity and accuracy, communicating with responsible parties to obtain explanations and reviewing systems and procedures to determine compliance.
3. Identify and document control deficiencies and recommend practical solutions to mitigate risks and improve operational performance.
4. Discuss findings with responsible Managers
5. Prepare clear and concise audit reports that highlight findings, risks, and recommendations within stipulated deadlines.
6. Provide guidance and support to other members on the Internal Audit team, focusing on ongoing professional development, knowledge sharing and overall teambuilding within the Unit.
7. Oversee the day to day operations of the Internal Audit Unit and report to the Team Leader/Assistant Manager where required.
8. Assist with the review and management of assignments of others on the Team including but not limited to following up on all outstanding audit requests, investigations, queries etc. to ensure the timely completion of all assigned matters.
9. Assist in conducting investigations into potential fraud, misconduct or compliance breaches ensuring objectivity and confidentiality throughout the process.
10. Update executive and senior management, the Audit/Compliance Committee and the Board as required.
11. Plan annual cash count and inventory reviews, execute the plan and report on findings.
12. Conduct or assist in conducting any training required of the Internal Audit Unit
Secondary Accountabilities
1. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Team Lead for the Unit or any Member of the Board.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum 5 CXC O'Level passes inclusive of Grade 1 or 2 in Mathematics and English A and
5 CAPE passes (full certificate) or an equivalent diploma or professional certificate and
Pursuing at least ACCA Level 3; CIA or any equivalent professional qualifications
Experience
Minimum 3 years experience in a Senior Audit position
