As EHS Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering safety systems, environmental legislation, and Mercury’s EHS plans across construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Adherence to the project & Mercury Engineering Safety Management system
* Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation
* Coordinate onboarding of Mercury employees & subcontractors ensuring all documentation is in place
* Develop task‑specific method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permits to work
* Coordinate project safety indicators and ensure compliance with the execution plan
* Maintain safety practices; conduct regular site audits, inspections, and record corrective actions
* Control hazardous substances and conduct ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments
* Carry out safety input at site management and EHS forums
* Ensure project staff adhere to EHS policies; coordinate induction & training
* Manage PPE resources and conduct toolbox talks
* Investigate accidents and communicate findings to project management
* Maintain welfare & hygiene facilities, liaise with project management on environmental, health & safety issues
* Ensure documentation is in the Safety File and maintain waste reduction and recycling programs
* Perform any other duties associated with this role
Essential Criteria
* Relevant qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety
* 7+ years’ experience managing EHS on large construction sites, preferably data centres
* 5+ years managing a team of EHS advisors
* Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health & safety legislation
* Flexibility in working patterns
* Strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills with close attention to detail
* Good team‑working ability and initiative
