Description
In this role, you will play a key part in the design, development, build, and validation of in-house test setups and fixtures, enabling robust testing of inhalation devices and sub-components. You will work closely with the device engineering team while also being able to independently execute tests, analyse results, and iterate designs in a fast-paced R&D environment. Additionally, you will maintain laboratory equipment and ensure all safety guidelines are followed. Your role will also involve preparing shipments of samples to external parties and collaborating closely with the office manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate in-house test setups, jigs, and fixtures to support device and component testing.
- Use 3D CAD tools to design test parts, prototypes, and mechanical component
- Build and iterate prototypes using rapid prototyping equipment, including
- FDM & resin 3D printers,
- CNC milling equipment.
- Execute mechanical and functional tests on devices and sub-assemblies and perform hands-on testing yourself.
- Prepare test protocols, configure test setups, and ensure accurate and traceable data collection.
- Analyse test results, document findings, and provide feedback for design improvement.
- Develop and improve test methods and procedures to increase reliability and repeatability.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and prototyping machines, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Collaborate closely with device engineers and cross-functional teams in an international environment.
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Prepare shipments of samples to external parties as required, in close collaboration with the office manager.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Graduated in a (elektro-)mechanical engineering discipline or experience in a physical test lab environment
- Strong hands-on technical profile with experience in
- development of mechanical or electromechanical test set
- designing and assembling prototypes, and
- executing laboratory or engineering tests.
- Proficient in 3D CAD design (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
- Practical experience with rapid prototyping tools, including
- filament and resin 3D printing, and
- CNC milling / workshop tools.
- Ability to work autonomously with a practical, problem-solving, and can-do mindset.
- Good understanding of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Strong planning, organization, and documentation skills.
- Team player who enjoys working in a hands-on innovation environment.
Desirable
- Experience with medical devices.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines.
- Familiarity with maintaining laboratory equipment and ordering supplies.
