Overview
Our client, a leading financial institution specialising in Leveraged Finance across EMEA, is looking for a Portfolio Manager. The team is responsible for the proactive management and oversight of a portfolio consisting of leveraged buyout transactions.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage or support the management of a portfolio of leveraged companies, initially assisting senior portfolio managers with the goal of taking full ownership within 2 to 3 years
* Conduct detailed financial analysis and risk assessment by reviewing financial statements, due diligence reports, and participating in management meetings and calls
* Prepare annual and quarterly portfolio reviews, as well as internal memoranda on credit matters
* Lead the management of amendment requests, including add-on facilities, recapitalizations, repricings, covenant resets, and Amend & Extend (A&E) requests
* Oversee restructuring processes for underperforming portfolio companies in coordination with the internal restructuring team and external stakeholders
* Collaborate with the Capital Markets team to support structuring and syndication of new financings, often involving high-yield bond or syndicated loan components
* Manage all internal credit processes related to portfolio companies, including presenting credit proposals to committees and coordinating with Risk, Coverage, Corporate Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams
* Identify and recommend opportunities for exposure reductions or secondary market purchases
Candidate Profile
* 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, leveraged finance, or structured finance
* Strong analytical skills with a rigorous approach to financial modelling and risk assessment
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with excellent multitasking capabilities
* High attention to detail and a critical, solution-oriented mindset
* University degree from a reputable institution
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of German is advantageous but not required
