Doctoral scholarship holder in children’s literature studies

Position
The Department of Literature in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Antwerp is looking for a full‑time doctoral scholarship holder to conduct research on "Scenes of friendship in German and English children’s literature.
Responsibilities

Prepare and defend a PhD dissertation on scenes of friendship in children’s literature.
Publish peer‑reviewed articles and deliver conference papers related to the research project.
Carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the Department of Literature in the areas of English and German literature.

Qualifications

Master's degree in German and/or English Literature or a related field; degree must be obtained by the start of the role.
Preferably demonstrated experience in studying children’s literature.
Excellent study results and strong research qualities in line with faculty and university policies.
Teaching competences aligned with the university’s educational vision.
High proficiency in English and German (reading, writing, speaking).
Ability to work effectively in a team and balance independent and collaborative work.
Integrity, creativity, cooperation and quality‑focused mindset.

Benefits

Doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, renewable once for another two‑year period upon positive evaluation.
Monthly scholarship amount according to university policy.
Additional allowances: ecocheques, Internet‑connectivity allowance, and bicycle allowance or full reimbursement of public transport costs.
Access to a wide range of courses and an educational credit through the Antwerp Doctoral School.
Based at the University of Antwerp’s city campus (Stadscampus).
