Your role includes.
In our News Apps team you will shape the future of journalism by crafting features such as revamped live sports reporting, attractive podcast experiences and many more. While collaborating across disciplines (with your solution owners, UX designers, backend engineers and data analysts) you’ll translate newsroom needs into clean and maintainable code that elevates the user experience through animations, accessible UIs, and engaging reading capabilities.
1. You’ll write idiomatic, well-tested Swift code (SwiftUI, Combine, NSURLSession, Codable)
2. Integrate with our GraphQL and REST APIs for real-time news, comments, and multimedia content
3. Build reusable UI components and custom animations to match our brand identity
4. Debugging issues on multiple iOS versions and device form factors
5. Participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives in an Agile environment
6. Keep our codebase healthy and future proof, from code reviews and CI/CD pipelines to unit testing and modular architecture

In terms of technical expertise, we’re looking for someone who combines:
7. 3+ years of professional iOS development experience
8. Strong grasp of Swift 6 and Swift strict concurrency
9. Protocol-Oriented Programming expertise
10. Kotlin Multiplatform experience (optional)
11. Experience with unit/UI testing frameworks (XCTest, Quick/Nimble) and CI tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise)
What's about to become your second home?
You’ll join TPS, the international technology organisation of Mediahuis. Within TPS, our Apps team brings together mobile experts. We move fast, embracing autonomy and ownership – from initial concept through App Store release and beyond. You’ll work in a vibrant, cross-functional team, with access to all the tools, and support you need to grow both technically and as a leader.
Your team works from Antwerp, Amsterdam and Ukraine, so fluency in English is a must-have. Your base would be our Antwerp office, we expect you to collaborate with your colleagues and cross-domain teams on Mondays and Tuesdays. You are more than happy to travel to our Amsterdam colleagues, every 6 weeks. This assignment is until December 2025, with the possibility to extend in 2026.
What’s on your CV,
You have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive and pragmatic attitude, and a collaborative mindset. You also have affinity with machine learning workflows – you don’t need to be an ML expert, but you understand how to take a model from notebook to production.
