We are seeking a seasoned IT Security Architect to join a dedicated Cybersecurity department responsible for safeguarding sensitive data and IT systems. You will play a crucial role in shaping, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity strategies, ensuring resilience against evolving cyber threats.
As part of the team (Network Operations Centre/Security Operations Centre), your mission is to protect and monitor digital infrastructure by applying security-by-design principles across diverse platforms, including cloud and on-premise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. You will design and implement robust security architectures and strategies aligned with best practices and security frameworks.
2. You will develop architecture models and documentation grounded in security-by-design and privacy-by-design principles.
3. You will lead and participate in the secure development, integration, and maintenance of IT systems and cybersecurity controls.
4. You will provide strategic support to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in planning and enforcing cybersecurity goals and policies.
5. You will coordinate and conduct security reviews of existing and planned architectures.
6. You will offer expert recommendations on secure solution design and implementation.
7. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security compliance across infrastructure and applications.
You have the following skills
Required Qualifications and Experience:
1. Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent through proven experience.
2. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in architectural roles within ICT environments.
3. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity architecture and design.
4. Solid expertise in Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and Cloud services—particularly Azure Cloud Security and SIEM implementations.
5. Experience with developing and applying reference architectures.
6. Proficient in assessing alternative solutions and providing informed recommendations.
7. Familiarity with BPMS, microservices, application containerisation, and enterprise integration patterns.
8. Conceptual understanding of database management and infrastructure architectural principles.
9. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical matters to a non-technical audience.
10. Certifications in IT architecture (e.g., TOGAF, SABSA) are considered a strong asset.
11. Experience within a governmental or public sector environment is an advantage.
