You should have an affinity to complex legal matters and EU affairs, especially in the field of data protection, intellectual property and artificial intelligence. This affinity could be gained through education or work experience. You should be ready to dive into difficult regulatory matters and decode legalistic language. Language skills are a clear asset as we work across many jurisdictions across Europe. A solid English working level is a must as you are expected to file clean news alerts in English. Responsibilities Monitoring, gathering content mainly for the MLex data protection, intellectual property and artificial intelligence beats and sharing relevant items with reporters in real-time. Processing news by summarizing content from various languages into English and uploading official material onto the MLex news site. Conducting research online and by phone to assist journalists with their reporting. Supporting reporters on drafting stories. Researching data-protection fines and updating the GDPR tracker on a weekly basis. Helping to create news archives and update existing ones. Digesting EU and UPC court documents on a regular basis. Requirements Experience in the legal field, policy, public affairs or journalism Able to write clearly in English Ability to concentrate during long hours Additional language skills such as German, French or Dutch are an asset. Must be willing to work four days a week from our office which is located in central Brussels.
