Associate Patent Litigation Lawyer (1-5 Years PQE) – Brussels

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious associate to join a \"straight-talking and straight-shooting\" team dedicated exclusively to IP and regulatory law. You will work alongside some of the \"brilliant strategists\" in the field on groundbreaking cross-border cases, including pivotal matters before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
The Role
As a Patent Litigation Associate, you will be integral to the firm’s contentious practice, taking on high levels of responsibility in a collaborative, multinational environment.
* Complex Litigation: Draft pleadings, develop case strategies, and manage evidence for multi-jurisdictional patent infringement and revocation proceedings.
* Strategic Advice: Advise high-profile global clients—particularly in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and tech sectors—on patent portfolio strength, freedom-to-operate, and regulatory issues.
* UPC Practice: Participate in pioneering cases within the burgeoning UPC system, leveraging the firm’s early-mover advantage in this jurisdiction.
* Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with specialized patent attorneys and lawyers across international offices to deliver unified legal and technical solutions.
The Candidate
* Experience: 1–5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in intellectual property, with a primary focus on patent litigation.
* Qualifications: Qualified to practice law in Belgium. A technical background (e.g., MSc or PhD in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering) is highly desirable but not mandatory.
* Languages: Native-level fluency in Dutch and/or French, with excellent professional-grade English (C1/C2 level).
* Attributes: A \"pioneering mentality\" with the ability to translate complex technical innovations into clear legal arguments.
