At Sarens, we are a world leader in heavy lifting and transport. We use special equipment like barges, ballast pumps, winches, and anchors to help build big international projects. These include bridges, offshore wind farms, and sea transport of heavy items. To help our Maritime Department, we are looking for a Maritime Support Coordinator who is practical, well-organized, and ready to learn.
What you will do
As our Maritime Support Coordinator, you will help with many tasks in the department and work closely with project teams:
1. Make sure all barge documents and certificates are up to date
2. Work with Belgian authorities
3. Help with the start and end of barge contracts (on- and off-hire)
4. Plan and follow up on yearly and special inspections of barges
5. Organize and help during barge dockings
6. Keep maritime equipment (like pumps and winches) in good condition and certified
7. Learn about maritime rules, laws, and contracts (like BIMCO)
8. Follow the market for barges, tugboats, and push boats
9. Manage full barge rental projects (called “bareboat charters”)
10. Support teams during equipment loading and unloading for projects
11. Be the contact person for permits, weather updates, port rules, brokers, and shipping agents
12. You will join a respected company with special maritime projects around the world.
13. You will work with a strong team and help manage unique equipment that plays a key role in building infrastructure and energy systems.

14. Strong interest in maritime or heavy lifting industry
15. Some knowledge of maritime rules and certificates
16. Good at organizing and working with details
17. You take initiative and are proactive
18. OK working in both office and field (on barges, at ports,
19. Good level of English (you will report in English), Dutch as a plus
20. Flexible – maritime work can happen outside normal hours
Nice-to-have skills:
21. Familiar with BIMCO contracts or maritime rental work
22. Understand how maritime equipment works
23. Have worked at shipyards, ports, or with barges
