We're seeking a Junior Application Tester (Freelance) to join our client's digital transformation journey in Brussels. As a Junior Application Tester, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering robust, secure, and user-centric applications. Your work will directly support the efficiency and trustworthiness of essential public services, making a difference for citizens and institutions alike.
What You'll Be Doing
* Design and execute manual functional tests, including regression and exploratory testing, to ensure application quality
* Identify, document, and manage test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements
* Prepare test data and initial test conditions for comprehensive test execution
* Log, classify, and track bugs, defects, and anomalies using industry-standard tools
* Analyze and document test results, providing clear and structured defect reports
* Collaborate closely with business, functional, and development teams to support defect resolution and validate fixes
* Work within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban), actively participating in team coordination and knowledge sharing
Technical Skills
* Solid knowledge of manual functional testing techniques
* Hands-on experience with defect management tools (Mantis)
* Experience with test management platforms (Xqual)
* Basic familiarity with test automation tools (Agilitest)
* Understanding of test environments and deployment processes (GitLab, Docker)
* Comfortable with databases and SQL queries
* Nice to have: Experience with DB2, ReadyAPI, and hands-on Docker skills

* Recent, relevant experience as an application tester (within the current year)

* Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to testing methodology
* Clear communicator, able to document defects and results effectively

* Curious and eager to understand both product and business needs
Language Proficiency
* French: Native proficiency required
* English: Nice to have
Other Requirements
* Freelance position with a 12-month initial contract
* Hybrid work model: approximately 50% on-site in Brussels
