The Role:
We are looking for a skilled
C++ Application Software Engineer
to join a growing technology team developing software solutions that support the transition to clean and sustainable energy. You will work on modern, user-facing applications used to monitor, control, and optimise green energy systems.
This is an
application-level role
, focused on building robust, maintainable, and high-performance software rather than low-level or embedded development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain
C++ applications
for green energy platforms
* Build intuitive and responsive
GUI applications using Qt and QML
* Work with
SQL databases
for data storage, retrieval, and performance optimisation
* Manage and maintain build systems using
CMake
* Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and domain experts to translate requirements into technical solutions
* Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability
* Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best development practices
* (Optional) Explore and integrate
AI-driven features
such as data analysis, optimisation, or predictive insights
Required Skills & Experience:
* Strong experience with
modern C++ (C++17 or newer)
* Proven experience developing
application-level software
* Solid knowledge of
Qt (Qt Widgets and/or Qt Quick)
and
QML
* Experience working with
SQL databases
* Hands-on experience with
CMake
and structured build systems
* Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles
* Comfortable working in a Linux and/or Windows development environment
Nice to Have:
* Experience applying
AI / machine learning
techniques in software applications
* Familiarity with data-driven optimisation or analytics
* Experience in the
energy, renewables, or industrial technology
sectors
* Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for tooling or AI workflows
* Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
