For our client, a highly influential scientific organisation at the centre of Europe’s energy transition, we’re looking to recruit a Science Associate skilled in Life-cylce Assessment & Modelling to drive data-driven insights on fuels, transport systems and carbon intensity. This position is specifically interesting as you will operate at the intersection of science, policy and industry, directly influencing how low-carbon technologies are evaluated and deployed across Europe.
About your role
In this position, you will play a key role in shaping the analytical backbone behind the transition towards low-emission transport systems. You will contribute to high-impact modelling work and scientific evaluations that inform both industry and regulatory decision-making.
* Develop and apply vehicle fleet and fuels modelling, including carbon intensity and economic assessments across conventional and alternative powertrains
* Conduct Well-to-Wheels (WtW) and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to enable science-based comparisons between fuels and technologies
* Evaluate the impact and scalability of low-carbon fuels and technologies (e.g. HEVs, PHEVs, BEVs) within real-world scenarios
* Support the development and execution of technical research programmes in line with strategic priorities
* Contribute to technical reports, publications and briefing papers used by industry stakeholders and policymakers
* Collaborate with external consultants, research institutes and industry experts
* Analyse complex datasets related to emissions, fuels and transport systems and translate these into clear insights
* Actively contribute to cross-functional projects within fuels quality, emissions and broader energy transition topics
What you bring
You combine strong analytical capabilities with a genuine interest in the energy transition and its regulatory landscape. You are comfortable operating in a scientific environment where data, modelling and stakeholder interaction come together.
* MSc or PhD in a scientific or engineering discipline
* Experience in LCA, Well-to-Wheels modelling or similar analytical frameworks
* Strong data handling and modelling skills (e.g. Excel-based models and databases)
* Understanding of fuels, transport systems or energy transition dynamics
* Affinity with vehicle fleet modelling or willingness to deepen expertise in this area
* Ability to translate complex analyses into clear, structured insights
* Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
* Self-starter with the ability to work independently while contributing to a broader team
* Interest in European policy and regulatory developments is a strong advantage
What’s on offer
You will join an organisation that operates at the core of Europe’s energy and sustainability agenda, offering both intellectual challenge and real-world impact.
* Competitive salary package complemented with strong variety of secondary benefits
* High level of autonomy and ownership within your area of expertise
* Exposure to industry-wide challenges and policy-relevant work
* International, collaborative and science-driven environment
* Strong focus on personal development and continuous learning
* Flexible working structure with a healthy work-life balance
