Head of Procurement
Primary Role
Development and execution of LATAM sourcing strategies to deliver year‑over‑year productivity, extended pay terms, reduced lead times, improved delivery and quality performance, reduced risk, increased sustainability, and support a broad business strategy driving procurement functional excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead LATAM productivity initiatives across sites.
* Serve as key interface between the business in LATAM and Global Procurement, ensuring value contribution and prioritization of procurement within the region.
* Drive cost improvement and project execution through cross‑site collaboration.
* Liaise with project resources to focus and progress initiatives.
* Influence cross‑functionally to secure support from stakeholders such as engineering, quality and product management.
* Collaborate with LATAM leadership to develop group‑wide supply transformation plans aligned with category strategy.
* Work with Category Leaders and Procurement Leaders to develop and implement sourcing and supply chain strategies that harness economies of scale, drive economic value and enable business growth.
* Leverage supplier management, commodity management and total cost principles to manage supplier selection and encourage productive relationships with strategic suppliers.
* Support strategic initiatives within LATAM and Procurement, including make/buy analysis, M&A activity, VAVE and others.
* Assist operating sites in analyzing supply chain strengths/weaknesses, and create improvement plans to achieve world‑class standards.
* Coach, mentor and develop sourcing talent within LATAM.
* Collaborate with group and corporate leaders to enable robust career paths.
* Build a diverse, high‑performing supply sourcing organization.
* Support LATAM Procurement Leaders in complex negotiations using extensive professional knowledge of negotiation principles and techniques.
* Build and leverage relationships and networks across the organization.
* Use personal influence to persuade others and gain support.
* Lead monthly and yearly tactical and strategic presentations and progress reports to the LATAM Leadership Team.
* Create and develop key partner relationships to enhance profitability, resilience and sustainability.
* Continuously improve supplier performance in delivery, quality, inventory and lead times.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related technical field; MBA preferred.
* Minimum 15 years of sourcing and procurement leadership experience within the chemicals industry, supporting large global and multi‑site organizations.
* Proven track record leading change‑management initiatives and operational improvements aligned with business strategy.
* Experience managing large‑scale purchasing operations and procurement activities within global matrix organizations.
* Demonstrated experience influencing senior executives, strengthening organizations and developing talent.
* Strong experience managing complex projects.
* Excellent collaboration, analytical, presentation and consultative skills.
* Strong organizational and business communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Experience with business systems and e‑sourcing platforms is considered a plus.
