Greenpeace Belgium is looking for a part-time Fossil Fuel Campaigner (27 hrs/week, temporary position).

The fossil fuel campaigner works to achieve national impacts that, in turn, support the European and global campaign goals. The main aim of the campaign is helping Belgium to transition in a fair way to a fully sustainable society, powered by renewable energy.
Greenpeace Belgium operates a program structure with campaign project teams designed to deliver specific objectives within the agreed goals of the campaign. The campaigner’s role within the program is to be the issue expert with ability to help develop and drive agreed strategies and to liaise with colleagues in the Greenpeace International team and other Greenpeace offices.

TASKS
Campaign Work
1. Develop strategies based on communication, media impact and mobilization as well as political outreach and networking.
2. Engage in national political lobby work of the campaign projects.
3. Deliver outputs specified in the campaign plan and project teams, undertake specific campaign project work including: non-violent direct action, public communication and engagement activities, media work, political and corporate work and the use of legal and scientific approaches to issues.
4. Attendance at conferences, meeting and working with other organisations and individuals in civil society, in coordination with the other campaigners and the Program Director.
5. Work on other project teams when needed.
Team work
6. Work and communicate continuously, openly and co-operatively with other team members and the Program Manager to ensure that the whole team delivers the objectives of the project.
7. Take full part in the self-evaluation of team campaign projects at their completion.
8. Share skills and assist the development of other members of the team.
9. Co-ordinate and liaise with the Communications and Marketing Campaigner on external and internal communications.
10. Maintain a high commitment to Greenpeace values & policies.
Profiel
PROFILE:
11. At least 3 years of working experience in public campaigning or communications.
12. Ability to synthesize scientific, legal and technical issues and to communicate on them in wording, adapted to a target audience.
13. Issue expertise : Knowledge and/or experience in the energy sector. Knowledge and/or experience in (inter)national politics and laws on energy issues.
14. Strategic Thinking & Planning. Ability to develop campaign strategies. Assess and select the most relevant targets to achieve campaign objectives. Willing to explore new ideas and campaign options. Capable of developing and presenting detailed and realistic plans.
15. Communication & team work: Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; ability to tell the story of the campaign to a wide audience via our Greenpeace channels and/or media, negotiation skills; analytical skills; commitment to, and demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
16. Networking : Build and manage relationships with other NGO’s and allies; share knowledge and expertise to other organizations on energy issues when required.
17. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
18. Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and French and/or Dutch.
19. Based in Belgium.
20. Demonstrate strong awareness about inclusive and intersectional communication, comfortable with topics such as anti-racism, environmental and climate justice, disability rights, gender justice and class discrimination.
