The incumbent will contribute to building and maintaining strategic relationships, identifying and following up on funding opportunities, and supporting the visibility and engagement activities within the EU landscape. This role is ideal for a professional with solid experience in EU relations and funding mechanisms, looking to deepen their expertise in EU Affairs.ResponsibilitiesStakeholder Engagement and CoordinationCoordinate and maintain effective relationships with EU institutions, the Belgian government, and other relevant stakeholders, in line with established Alliance engagement priorities.Organize and follow up on meetings, events, and correspondence with key EU partners.Maintain updated records of stakeholder contacts and engagement activities.Contribute to joint initiatives and exchanges that strengthen institutional visibility and collaboration.Policy and EU Funding IntelligenceMonitor and analyze EU policies, strategies, and funding opportunities (e.G. Horizon Europe, Team Europe Initiatives) relevant to the Alliance’s work.Track and summarize policy developments and identify funding opportunities relevant to ongoing Alliance priorities.Prepare concise briefs and analyses to support strategic planning and proposal development.Liaise with researchers and program teams to match funding opportunities with relevant projects.Communication and VisibilityContribute to enhancing the Alliance’s visibility and engagement with EU stakeholders and networks.Coordinate the preparation of outreach and communication materials for EU events.Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.Support the organization’s participation in key meetings, conferences, and policy dialogues. Coordination and Internal CollaborationCoordinate EU-related initiatives and facilitate collaboration across teams in partnership with the Global Partnerships Advisor.Follow up on actions and ensure timely information flow across internal stakeholders.Support the planning, implementation, and reporting of engagement activities.Support the exchange of good practices and lessons learned on EU engagement within the Alliance.Analysis and ReportingPrepare analytical briefs, summaries, and background materials to support engagement activities and internal planning.Draft high-quality notes and reports on EU engagement and policy developments.Consolidate findings and lessons learned into internal knowledge materials.Maintain organized repositories of relevant documents and data for easy access and use.RequirementsRequirements Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree desirable) in international relations, business management, public policy, public administration, communications or related fields.Relevant professional experience (minimum 5–7 years is desirable), including familiarity with EU funding mechanisms and instruments (e.G., Horizon Europe, NDICI).Demonstrated expertise in engaging and fostering collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, including EU institutions, (inter)governmental agencies, research institutes, practitioners, farmers’ organizations, NGOs, and the private sector.Proven professional experience in Belgium, with a strong understanding of the EU institutional and funding environment, is essential.Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.Exceptional facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to support effective communication across all levels and build consensus in a multicultural disciplinary environment.BenefitsTerms of employment This is a nationally recruited position, based in Belgium, open only to internal candidates, namely: regular staff members, complementary staff members and individuals who are currently employed or have completed a contract with Bioversity in the last 6 months. All benefits are denominated and paid in Euro. The salary is level 8, on a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest. The salary range will be established in accordance with the regional/country standards. The salary range starts from Euro 49,606 per annum. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, leave provisions, medical and life insurance, and non-contributory retirement plan. The contract will be for a period of 2 years, subject to a probationary period of 6 months, and is renewable subject to performance, project needs and availability of funds.Please note that eligible applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Belgium.
