We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join a leading organisation in the pharmaceutical industry. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing automation systems across a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
The role involves PLC changes and adaptations, close collaboration with other engineers, and ensuring the highest standards of data integrity in line with industry regulations. With 80 PLCs on site (the majority Siemens), this is a technically engaging opportunity within a dynamic team.
Location: Onsite 4 days per week (with occasional flexibility for 1 day remote)
Contract: 3 years (long-term commitment required)
Key Responsibilities
* Implement PLC changes and adaptations across multiple Siemens-based systems.
* Collaborate with other automation engineers to coordinate and follow up on changes.
* Act as an embedded engineer within a regulated environment.
* Apply and uphold data integrity standards (ALCOA+, GMP, GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
* Support ongoing system reliability, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
* Contribute to safety and compliance in accordance with industry standards.
Candidate Profile
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred (practical, hands-on approach valued).
* Experience: A few years of relevant PLC/automation experience, ideally in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or food production.
* Technical Skills:
* Strong Siemens PLC experience (TIA Portal, Step 7, S7 series).
* Knowledge of safety PLCs beneficial.
* Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g. Profinet, Profibus).
* Data integrity awareness and compliance experience highly desirable.
* Soft Skills:
* Collaborative team player able to integrate into a young and dynamic engineering team.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow through on technical changes.
* Long-term commitment mindset (3-year role).
