YOUR TASKS
You conduct academic research at the Energy & Systems Lab (https://www.ugent.be/ea/emsme/en/research/ensy). This includes the following tasks:
* to conduct high‑quality research in the field of identifying and monitoring the health status of beatings in electrically powered and/or controlled systems (with application in mechatronic systems), with a focus on the development of tools and algorithms for the estimation of the health status,
* to continue the development of the current and/or new generic set‑up on detection and monitoring of faults in electrical drive
* to supervise doctoral students who are conducting research in the field of this vacancy,
* to take responsibility for project coordination and dissemination and scientific valorisation of research results,
* to actively contribute to the acquisition of funding for fundamental and applied research in the context of this vacancy.
* to attribute to industrial services that require the implementation of condition monitoring
You support in educational activities in the field of this vacancy at the Energy & Systems Lab. This includes one or more of the following tasks:
* to supervise master's students who are conducting a master's thesis in the field of the application.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* You hold a thesis‑based doctorate, in the field of electromechanics.
* The diploma requirement must be met on the date of recruitment. For diplomas obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence from NARIC must be submitted.
* You have conducted high‑quality scientific research in the field of the vacancy, as evidenced by publications in scientific journals and conference contributions.
* You have experience in the development and use of numerical simulation tools and algorithms in the field of the vacancy.
* Knowledge of and experience with DAQ systems is required.
* You have the skills to supervise master's or doctoral students and in academic education.
* You have the required communication skills, flexibility and critical mind to work with researchers of different nationalities.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
* We offer a contract of definite duration for the period of 1 year.
* Your contract will start on 18/05/2026 at the earliest.
