YOUR ROLE
For one of our key clients — a stable and forward-looking organization — we are looking for a Lead Data Engineer. You will analyze requirements, design and update data models and manage technically mentor junior peers within the data team. With a balance of hands-on engineering and leadership, you will guide the team in building scalable, high-quality solutions and ensure data becomes a reliable and valuable business asset.
This role sits at the core of the company’s data environment. You will collaborate closely with architects, business analysts and engineers, contributing to both operational excellence and strategic innovation.
Your responsibilities:
* Crafting SQL scripts & queries to optimize the data warehouse environment
* Creating procedures and packages to meet ETL requirements (including testing)
* Conducting performance analyses and optimizing input and operational systems
* Contributing to master data management projects and providing feedback on data flows
* Sharing expertise with the Data Team and collaborating with architects
* Mentoring developers and coaching junior team members
* Conducting code reviews and enforcing coding standards
* Representing the data engineering team in broader IT discussions
* Translating business goals into technical data models

YOU
Your skills and experience:
* Higher education degree and minimum 5 years’ experience as an ETL Developer/Data Engineer
* Profound knowledge of T-SQL scripting & querying (essential)
* Strong knowledge of the MS SQL stack (DB – SSIS – SSRS) (essential)
* Proficiency with data warehousing (DataVault) (essential) and familiarity with reporting (Power BI) and related tools
* Knowledge of Databricks and Azure-based ETL solutions (Azure Data Factory and/or Fabric)
* Experience with ETL concepts & technologies, including both batch and streaming (e.g., Kafka)
* Big Data technologies (Hadoop, pipeline orchestration, log collection/distribution) are a plus
* Experience with Agile or SCRUM practices is a plus
