Dessel Plant
Job purpose
The melting behavior of new raw materials and glass compositions is compared through a number of proven melting experiments. The homogeneity of the glass as well as the optical and mechanical properties of the molten glasses are determined by using various technologies such as electron microscopy, spectral measurements and strength measurements.
Responsibilities
1)Melting trials and analyses of the glass samples according fixed procedures and within agreed deadlines:
1. Prepare mixture of raw materials for melting trials.
2. Melting and casting of glass beads.
3. Glass analyses, depending on the needs chemical analyses, mechanical analyses and/or microscopic analyses will be performed.Optionally the strength of the glasses will be measured.
2)Experimental work procedures will be registered in a laboratory log-book.
3Reporting of the results in standardized reports in excel format, word and power-point.
Capabilities
4. Industry knowledge : Basic knowledge about glass production process is a pre.
5. IT skills : Micro-soft office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
6. Product knowledge: Experience with analyses (glass) minerals and/or glass analyses.
7. Knowledge analytical techniques: Strong interest and demonstrable skills in the field of lab analysis.
8. Safety: Knowledge of Sibelco's safety regulations and ensure activities are in compliance with those regulations.
9. Behavior skills: creative, solution-oriented, handy, accurate, team player

Educational Background and prior professional experience
12. Bachelor degree chemistry, physics, higher laboratory education or comparable.
13. Dutch & basic English
