Position Summary
The Manager External Affairs, Europe works in cooperation with the Vice President External Affairs, Europe in developing advocacy strategies for Albemarle in the region. He/she will work in the areas of critical raw materials (lithium), e-mobility, trade, sustainability, due diligence and energy legislation, and particularly on the interaction of these policies. He/she identifies opportunities for engagement with representatives of the institutions and bodies of the European Union and its Member States and represents Albemarle with EU stakeholders including trade associations, NGOs and OEMs.
Tasks
1. Cooperate with the Vice President External Affairs, Europe in developing advocacy strategies for Albemarle in the region.
2. Policy and regulatory monitoring and external outreach.
3. Lead on specific policy files, including regulatory assessment, development and implementation of advocacy strategies and external representation
4. Understanding current regulatory and policy trends and translating the impact to business priorities and opportunities.
5. Promotion and defense of Albemarle’s products in the EU & at national level.
6. Development of appropriate internal & external communication & advocacy tools on EU policy and regulatory matters.
7. Represent Albemarle with EU and national stakeholders including relevant directorates in the European Commission, members of the European Parliament, Member States’ competent authorities, industry associations.
Required Skills And Experience
8. An academic Master degree in European politics, international relations, law, communication or other relevant title
9. 3-5 years working experience in a relevant field (environment, sustainability, transport, chemicals, raw materials)
10. Previous working experience in European Institutions, trade associations, corporate or NGOs
11. Good understanding of some of the relevant policy files and areas, and desire to develop horizontal knowledge on other policy areas
12. Strong analytical and synthesis skills, and an ability to convert to sound implementation plans.
13. Excellent networker and communicator with good presentation and reporting skills and an ability to influence.
14. Fluent speaker in English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
15. Able to work in a multicultural and international environment.
