We're looking for a Software Engineering Team Lead to join our team in Mechelen.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading engineers but still wants to stay close to the technology.
You'll lead a small team delivering customer-facing solutions built on our Transaction Observability platform, while remaining involved in technical discussions, solution design and engineering decisions. You'll also play a key role in supporting the development of your team and ensuring customer projects are delivered successfully.
This is not a role where you'll spend your time managing layers of people or sitting in endless meetings. We are looking for somebody who enjoys solving problems, working with customers, helping engineers grow and taking ownership of delivery.
Our platform is built in Java and makes extensive use of technologies including Elasticsearch, Apache Kafka and Kubernetes. You don't need experience with everything on that list, but we'd love to hear about any exposure you've had.
What you'll be doing
* Leading a small team of software engineers, supporting their development through coaching, mentoring and regular feedback
* Owning the technical delivery of customer projects and key workstreams
* Working with customers, project managers and stakeholders to turn requirements into practical solutions
* Supporting solution design and helping engineers navigate technical challenges
* Reviewing code and maintaining high engineering standards
* Managing priorities, risks and dependencies to keep projects on track
* Helping improve the way we work as we continue to grow
* Supporting the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle (we actively use Claude throughout engineering and delivery)
* Balancing technical leadership, people leadership and delivery ownership
We'd love to hear from you if you have
* A strong software engineering background, ideally in Java-based environments
* Experience leading projects, mentoring engineers and managing small technical teams
* Experience working directly with customers, whether through delivery, implementation, consulting or professional services environments
* A practical understanding of modern software engineering practices and delivery xjecrpw methodologies
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with both engineers and stakeholders
* A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in helping others succeed
