The Finance Department's Accounting Unit is at the heart of Fluxys Group's financial management. It is responsible for general accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable for all the Group's Belgian entities. The unit also plays an active role in developing new businesses focused on innovative molecules (gases).
The Working Capital Unit focuses on managing the company's short-term financial position. This includes overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and receipts, and optimising cash flow to support operational efficiency.
Our Working Capital Unit is looking for a Senior AP Accountant (m/f/x).
Job purpose
Full and thorough management of the accounts payable (AP) invoice cycle, from receipt to payment, ensuring legal compliance, accounting accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
Your responsibilities
Your main task will be to process purchase invoices (from Belgium and elsewhere) through to payment. You will:
* check that invoices contain the legally required information
* encode the VAT listed on the invoice document
* reconcile invoices with orders
* save accounting documents in SAP (FI or MM module)
* submit invoices for payment
* handle payment reminders
* monitor the approval process and resolve complications in the case of unapproved invoices
* monitor accounts (mainly accounts payable) and act as the point of contact for suppliers in consultation with the other internal units
* reconcile open accounts
* draw up Intrastat declarations
* actively participate in the month-end close
* monitor the process for recording invoices not received by the relevant close date
* help to improve processes and controls
* monitor ongoing projects at Accounts Payable
About you
* You have a bachelor's degree in accounting
* You have at least five years' experience in AP, ideally in a large company, but experience in SMEs or fiduciary companies is also acceptable
* You are well versed in accounting principles and VAT
* You have in-depth knowledge of SAP and are a proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel)
* You are fluent in French or Dutch with a satisfactory grasp of the other language and a passive understanding of English
* You are an excellent team player, yet able to work independently when necessary
* You are flexible and can adapt to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances
* You have strong problem-solving skills, are customer- and results-oriented and perform tasks to a high standard
* You are known for your punctuality, your clear communication (both oral and written) and your ability to manage stress constructively
* You are disciplined and structured, planning your work efficiently in order to meet deadlines and achieve set objectives
* Your motivation and sense of responsibility allow you to fully commit to your tasks and contribute positively to collective performance
