🟢 Who we are.
Bnewable is an independent energy company accelerating the path to NET-ZERO. We specialise in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and energy management for businesses, covering everything from analysis, project development, installation to operation, so our clients can decarbonise and optimise their energy use without upfront investment. Our in-house developed energy management platform (Voltana) and a “Battery-as-a-Service” model make renewable energy storage accessible and efficient for commercial and industrial customers.
Our mission is to create clarity in the increasingly complex energy market — to be “your energy director.” We pride ourselves on being authentic, passionate, results-driven, collaborative, and no-nonsense.
As we build out our ESG efforts, we seek a motivated ESG & Sustainability intern to support us in setting up robust ESG reporting & documentation processes for our BESS projects.
🟢 Job details.
As ESG & Sustainability Intern at Bnewable, you will play a central role in shaping our environmental and sustainability documentation across Bnewable projects. Your responsibilities will include:
* Set up ESG documentation framework: design and implement a structured documentation process to track ESG-related aspects for each BESS project (environmental permitting, supply-chain information, battery sourcing, transport, installation, operations, end-of-life/recycling).
* Environmental permitting: collage, manage and summarise required environmental permits and compliance documentation per project, from raw-material sourcing to installation and operations.
* Battery supply and chain-of-custody tracking: record relevant data on battery supply (manufacturer, chemistry, origin), transport, storage, and installation, to ensure transparency and traceability.
* End-of-life & recycling / disposal tracking: define and document procedures for battery end-of-life, recycling, disposal or refurbishment. Keep records of recycling partners, processes and regulatory compliance.
* Data collection & reporting: work closely with project, operations, and procurement teams to collect relevant ESG data; prepare periodic ESG reports for internal use and for external stakeholders (e.g., investors, regulators, clients).
* Gap analysis & improvement recommendations: identify missing data, weak spots, or compliance/risk issues in current or planned projects; propose improvements to make the ESG reporting robust and future-proof.
* Support compliance & internal awareness: help raise awareness internally on ESG requirements and implications; assist in establishing internal guidelines / best practices for BESS projects from an ESG perspective.
🟢 Your profile.
We believe a successful candidate could come from a variety of backgrounds, but given the nature of the role, the following qualifications are desirable:
* Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program, preferably in sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering, economics, public policy or a related field
* Strong interest in sustainability, renewables, energy transition, energy storage, and regulatory topics.
* Analytical mindset with the ability to structure data, summarise complex topics, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
* Independent, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of a project with many interdisciplinary stakeholders.
* Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Native fluency in Dutch and/or French, fluent in English, both oral and written.
* Attention to detail, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to meet deadlines.
* Available for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
