Our purpose is to deliver a sustainable future for the world through science and collaboration.About You And This Role Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Global Government Affairs Director for Chemicals & Plastics. In this role, you will lead Dow’s global advocacy strategy in intergovernmental fora — such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) — on chemicals and plastics policy. This role helps shape global regulatory frameworks and advance Dow’s enterprise objectives in sustainability, circularity and responsible chemical management.You should have in-depth knowledge of and an advanced level of expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques, and/or technologies within your discipline. You will influence internal and external business and/or regulatory issues with impact on the business. You will lead highly visible, multidisciplinary project teams or initiatives and negotiate with senior management, customers, regulators or vendors to influence decisions.As a recognized external authority and thought leader, you will influence global policy and regulatory frameworks with high impact on industry and Dow’s business and regulatory issues. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and engage with senior stakeholders across governments, IGOs, NGOs and industry associations. Your expertise will guide Dow’s position in global negotiations and policy development, ensuring alignment with business priorities and long-term growth.The preferred locations for this position are Washington, D.C. (USA), Brussels (BEL), or Horgen (CHE), however other global Dow locations may be considered.ResponsibilitiesLead Global Advocacy Strategy: Drive Dow’s engagement in international policy discussions on chemicals and plastics, including UNEP and other multilateral environmental platforms.Represent Dow Externally: Serve as spokesperson and policy expert with international organizations, government officials, industry associations and NGOs.Shape Policy Outcomes: Develop and advocate for positions that advance Dow’s interests in global regulatory frameworks, sustainability initiatives, and circular economy policies. May submit amendments and regulatory language in official comment periods.Build Strategic Alliances: Establish and maintain a sophisticated network of political, regulatory, and industry contacts to influence global policy agendas.Collaborate Internally: Partner with business leaders, functional leaders and technical experts to align advocacy strategies with enterprise objectives.Lead and Develop Talent: Act as a strategic agent on behalf of Dow's interests and help set the agenda and shape future events for government relations in assigned area(s).Engage Trade Associations: Coordinate with industry groups to develop unified positions and influence legislative and regulatory language.Required QualificationsA minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.A minimum of 12 years of public policy experience.Experience in chemicals and plastics policy engagement such as the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), REACH or Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, and sustainability or circularity sectors.For U.S. Applicants: A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.Preferred QualificationsGraduate degree in law, public or environmental policy/government, MBA, international relations or related field.Public sector experience.Government advocacy and/or trade association experience.Global advocacy in intergovernmental fora experience.Your SkillsLeadership: Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.Collaboration: Ability to manage tight deadlines while collaborating with a large number of stakeholders.Prioritization: Prioritize workload effectively.Analytical Reasoning: Analytical skills and statistical reasoning are necessary.Government Advocacy: Proven skills in government advocacy, executive coaching, people leadership, budget management, and industry knowledge.Additional NotesRelocation assistance is not available for this position.For positions based in Washington D.C., Dow is required by law to include the pay scale that represents the pay range for the position. This pay range relates to the District of Columbia and accounts for factors including skillset, experience, and sustained job performance.
