Procurement Officer
We are currently looking for a Procurement Officer to join our team in Leuven. The officer will support Direct Purchasing activities both domestically, and internationally, by obtaining and reviewing quotes, negotiating with suppliers, generating purchase orders, and monitoring open orders and vendor performance. The buyer will report to the Procurement Manager of GC Europe. Internal training will be provided.
Main responsibilities
* Creation and follow-up of Purchasing Orders from A - Z
* Lead contract negotiation with suppliers for goods and services
* Identify and execute saving opportunities while improving supply level
* Responsible for inventory and back order management for assigned portfolio
* Assure alignment with Sales regarding forecasts and inventory status
* Perform some or all the required functions from initiation of intent to purchase to satisfactory delivery of material or service, and addressing applicable invoice review/approvals, as they arise
* Liaise between procurement department and other local and international departments, to get buy-in for chosen project approach
* Process orders, handle routine interactions with internal customers/suppliers and provide a service that is customer friendly and in line with company strategy and targets
* Provide regular status updates of the respective projects and main initiatives
* Lead national and international supplier relationship management and continuous improvement initiatives for key and strategic suppliers and hold regular business reviews to ensure timely implementation
* Review portfolio of the products assigned and provide input and reporting to the relevant stakeholders
* Responsible for the onboarding of new suppliers
* Support the procurement organization in the further optimization and implementation of a world-class purchasing department
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements
* Bachelor or equivalent by experience
* SAP experience required
* Preferrable experience in purchasing and inventory management
* Strong negotiation and analytical skills required
* Ability to leverage interpersonal skills to establish and develop relationships with internal customers and colleagues, international colleagues and external suppliers
* Strong project management skills, and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Good communication skills in Dutch and English are required
* Proficiency in MS Office
