We are supporting a leading banking and financial services partner on several business-critical digital initiatives, including core system modernization, regulatory enhancements, and the evolution of customer-facing platforms. We are looking for an experienced .NET Developer with a solid understanding of frontend technologies to join a modern, highly regulated engineering environment.

* Role: Freelance .NET Developer
* Contract: 12 months (likelihood of extension)
* Location: Brussels (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)
* Languages: English + French or Dutch

Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using .NET / .NET Core
* Contribute to greenfield initiatives and long-term platform modernization projects
* Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions
* Apply clean code practices, testing, and collaborative development approaches
* Support and evolve system architecture in line with modern best practices
* Build and maintain solutions within CI/CD pipelines
* Participate in code reviews and agile ceremonies
* Collaborate with frontend teams to ensure end-to-end solution quality
* Work on high-availability, security-sensitive financial systems
Required Skills
* 5+ years of experience as a .NET Developer
* Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET
* Solid experience with REST APIs
* Good knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar)
* Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based workflows
* Working knowledge of frontend technologies (Angular, React, TypeScript)
* Familiarity with Docker and modern deployment practices
* Comfortable working autonomously in Agile/Scrum teams
Nice to Have
* Experience in banking or financial services
* Exposure to legacy modernization or core system transformation
* Knowledge of security or regulatory constraints
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or hybrid)
* Familiarity with event-driven or messaging-based architectures
