Job Description Summary
The Director, Global & European Policy identifies and analyses European (and when relevant, international) policy developments that may impact generic and biosimilar medicines as well as broader healthcare systems. Working across functions and geographies, the role drafts and aligns Sandoz policy positions on cross‑cutting policy opportunities and challenges, leveraging both the Sandoz purpose and business priorities.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Lead early identification and understanding of critical European and global public policy issues, with a particular focus on pharmaceutical, industrial and environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, pricing and reimbursement, supply security, intellectual property, and market access for generics and biosimilars.
* Draft and advocate Sandoz policy positions, involving relevant functions at global, regional, and country levels. Build consensus through strong collaboration and ensure alignment with the Sandoz purpose at all times.
* Represent Sandoz with key policy stakeholders, including national governments, European and international trade associations, and other international organizations. Advocate for Sandoz positions to help secure the best achievable political and policy environment for the business.
* Cascade policy positions and drive internal alignment and communication, ensuring clarity, consistency, and business relevance of our advocacy across the company.
* Support Sandoz leadership in preparing for meetings with policymakers and key external stakeholders.
Key Performance Indicators
* Ability to identify and critically analyze current and forthcoming European and global policy risks and opportunities relevant to Sandoz.
* Ability to mobilize and rapidly develop a high level of expertise on current and emerging complex policy developments impacting Sandoz.
* Delivery of high-quality policy positions to support Sandoz advocacy.
* Demonstrated proximity and relevance to the business, with strong collaboration across functions, hierarchy, and geographies.
Minimum Requirements
Education
* Master's degree in Political Science, Law, Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, or a related field.
Languages
* English required (excellent writing and drafting skills).
* Additional European language(s) strongly preferred.
Experience & Skills
* 10+ years of experience in Public Affairs, Government Affairs, or Policy roles, with strong exposure to European and/or international policymaking environments.
* Solid understanding of pharmaceutical, generics, and/or biosimilars markets in Europe; experience outside Europe is an asset.
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to anticipate trends.
* Demonstrated ability to connect policy developments to business objectives.
* Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration and negotiation skills; experience working in a multicultural, multinational environment.
* Proven ability to network and build trust with policymakers and external stakeholders.
