Now Hiring: Associate Director, AI Systems Strategist (Life Sciences)
Ghent, Belgium (Relocation supported) | 6‐month contract → potential permanent
Open to candidates in Belgium or Switzerland
Are you a life‐science technology leader with real experience shaping agentic or multi‐agent AI solutions in a regulated (GxP) setting?
Do you excel at turning complex business needs into clear, actionable technical direction?
If so, this role will put you at the centre of one of the most innovative AI build-outs in the industry.
Why This Role Matters
You'll act as the strategic bridge between scientific, operational, and engineering teams—designing and delivering agentic & multi-agent AI systems that truly scale across R&D, Development, and Commercial functions.
We're looking for someone who:
Has hands-on experience developing or owning AI solutions inside a Pharma, Biotech, or Med Device organisation
Understands GxP deeply enough to explain its operational impact to engineering, infrastructure, security, compliance, and quality
Can assess and translate ambiguous business requirements into robust, production-ready AI specifications
Is energised by cutting-edge AI (agentic frameworks, multi-agent workflows, orchestration, MLOps, cloud-native architecture)
What You'll Be Doing
Translate Business → AI Engineering
* Turn strategic goals into system architectures, roadmaps, multi-agent workflows, and technical specifications
* Lead discovery on use cases, feasibility, and value for agentic AI solutions
Design & Build
* Architect pilots using Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and open-source frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI)
* Harden solutions for production with the right observability, reliability, and performance measures
Buy & Integrate
* Evaluate external AI tools and embed them into enterprise systems and regulated workflows
* Ensure interoperability, compliance, auditability, and scalability
Collaborate Everywhere
Partner closely with:
Engineering • Architecture • Infrastructure • Ops • Security • Quality • Compliance • Domain business teams
Your Background
Experience in Pharma, Biotech, or MedTech (Med Device: must be internal systems—not wearable tech)
Strong capability in AI Engineering, ML Engineering, Data Science, or Solution Architecture
Fluent in cloud ecosystems (Azure ML/OpenAI, AWS Bedrock/SageMaker, Snowflake, Databricks)
Hands-on understanding of multi-agent stacks and orchestration
Comfortable discussing the real-world implications of GxP, including how you have adapted AI/ML solutions to regulatory constraints
Soft Skills That Make You Stand Out
* High empathy and strong stakeholder communication
* Ability to bring clarity to ambiguous environments
* Passion for emerging AI technologies
* Resilience, adaptability, and a solution-focused mindset
* Comfort leading brainstorming sessions—but not a line management role
Example Projects You May Own
* Using ML to cut clinical development timelines—optimising site strategy, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and patient pool modelling
* Integrating third‐party AI solutions into systems like Veeva to streamline workflows and reduce operational friction
* Building early-phase prototypes and maturing them into scalable, enterprise-ready systems
Travel & Location
Average travel to Ghent every other week
Relocation package available:
– Apartment for 3 months
– Help from a relocation agency
– Language courses
– Tax advisory support
If you're passionate about shaping next-generation agentic AI in a regulated life‐science environment—and you thrive on both strategy and hands-on delivery—this is your opportunity.
