Key Responsibilities of the R&D Engineer - Silicon Photonics Materials :
* Lead development and optimisation of fabrication processes for Silicon Photonics components using specialised materials,
* Collaborate with design, fabrication, and process engineering teams to implement and refine manufacturing flows,
* Ensure high yield and reproducibility of photonic devices,
* Conduct hands-on experiments and material/device characterisation, including analysis of Optical and electrical properties, Electro-optic coefficients, Modulation bandwidth, Signal-to-noise ratio, Responsivity (especially of Ge APDs).
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate Silicon Photonics components into complete systems,
* Evaluate performance of components in real-world application scenarios,
* Stay current with advancements in materials science and manufacturing technologies,
* Conduct literature reviews and apply new findings to drive innovation and enhance component performance.
Qualifications of the R&D Engineer - Silicon Photonics Materials :
*
PhD or Master's degree in one of the following fields > Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Photonics or a related discipline
Strong background in materials science, with expertise in one or more of the following:
* Lithium Niobate (LiNbO₃)
* Barium Titanate (BaTiO₃)
* PZT
* Silicon Germanium (SiGe)
* III-V semiconductors
* Organic materials
Alternatively, deep process knowledge related to:
* Ge APDs
* Integrated SiGe photodetectors
* Electro-optic modulators
* Multi-wavelength sources
Basic knowledge of Silicon Photonics device concepts is considered a plus
