Freelance Electrical Engineer - Food Production - Antwerp, BelgiumDuration: 12 months (freelance contract)Sector: Food & Beverage / Industrial Electrical EngineeringWe are seeking a freelance Electrical Engineer to support the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of electrical systems in a food production facility in the Antwerp area. This role focuses solely on electrical infrastructure, power distribution, and industrial plant systems.Your RoleDesign, install, and commission electrical systems for production lines, utilities, and auxiliary equipment.Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using EPLAN.Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and power distribution network analysis.Specify and implement low- and medium-voltage systems, including switchgear, transformers, and motors.Perform testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical installations in accordance with Belgian electrical codes and safety standards.Troubleshoot electrical faults and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous production.Collaborate with mechanical and maintenance teams to integrate electrical systems into plant operations.Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and as-built electrical drawings.Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industrial standards, and energy efficiency guidelines.Your Profile5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering within food & beverage or industrial manufacturing environments.Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage systems, motor control, and industrial power distribution.Hands-on experience with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial electrical systems.Proficient in EPLAN for electrical design and documentation.Familiarity with Belgian and European electrical codes (AREI / IEC standards).Experience with electrical protective devices, MCCs, transformers, and cabling systems.Fluent in English.Eligible to work as a freelance contractor in Belgium.Available for full-time on-site work in Antwerp.Bonus SkillsExperience with energy optimization, harmonics analysis, and power factor correction.Knowledge of industrial lighting, UPS systems, and backup power solutions.Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment.Experience in high-throughput or 24/7 production environments.Apply now — the client is ready to interview immediately!
