Job Description
R&D Engineers research, architect, design, develop, and test software for our products, services, systems, and tools. They define, create, integrate, verify, and modify software/system components and utilize innovative solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications. They apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
The team you will be part of is an inter‑cultural team with a mix of PON (passive optical network), system, embedded software, and python experts. Telecom networks are a key element in Network Infrastructure group. Nokia fiber broadband solutions have already delivered three generations of PON technology, from Gigabit GPON to 25G PON and now 50G thanks to in‑house developed ASIC. NIFN2026.
How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
* Design and execute test strategies and plans for new features.
* Develop and automate test cases for embedded software and equipment applications.
* Build and maintain test setups; reproduce and analyze issues on hardware and simulation environments.
* Collaborate with software, hardware, and ASIC/FPGA teams to ensure product quality.
* Contribute to bug fixing and feature implementation when needed.
* Continuously improve test scope, infrastructure, and processes.
Key Skills And Experience
Must have
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in software development and testing (Python and/or C/C++).
* Hands‑on experience with Linux environments and scripting (Python).
* Knowledge of real‑time embedded systems and telecom networks.
* Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework) and tools like Docker, Jenkins.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to think creatively.
* Fluent in English and comfortable working in an international team.
Nice to have
* Knowledge of fiber technologies (GPON, XGSPON) and test management tools (e.g., Xray/Jira).
