FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER - HASSELT (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe're currently recruiting for a capable and adaptable Field Service Engineer with a strong electronics background to support the deployment, maintenance, and in-service support of complex electronic systems operating in secure and safety-critical environments.
This role involves working with advanced hardware systems that may include sensing, communication, control, or monitoring equipment used across a range of regulated sectors.
You will be responsible for ensuring systems remain fully operational, reliable, and compliant throughout their lifecycle. This includes on-site installation, fault diagnosis, repair, upgrades, and preventative maintenance activities. The role requires a methodical approach to troubleshooting at component and system level, often in environments where access, documentation, or time constraints demand a high level of technical competence and judgement.
Working closely with engineering, logistics, and support teams, you will help resolve technical issues, feed back field data to improve product performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
You will also engage directly with customers and end users, providing clear technical guidance while maintaining professionalism in secure or sensitive settings.
This position is well suited to an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving in real-world conditions, and working with sophisticated electronic systems without being confined to a purely office-based role.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, and support electronic systems at customer or operational sitesPerform preventative maintenance, inspections, and system health checksDiagnose faults at board, unit, and system level, and carry out repairs or component replacementSupport system upgrades, modifications, and configuration changesInterpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation to support field activitiesEnsure all work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, procedures, and safety requirementsAccurately document service activities, findings, and corrective actionsProvide technical feedback to engineering teams to support product improvementsLiaise with customers and stakeholders in a professional and technically competent mannerSupport logistics, spares management, and return-to-base repair processes
Required Qualifications
Professional Bachelor, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent by experienceProven experience in field service, maintenance, or support of electronic systemsStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skills at component and system levelAbility to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsFamiliarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generatorsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilityAbility to work independently in field-based environmentsClear and professional communication skillsHigh level of attention to detail and accountabilityFlexibility and adaptability in dynamic or constrained conditions
