About Impact Finance Belgium (IFB)
Impact Finance Belgium is a membership-based association dedicated to increasing the share of assets invested with a positive impact in Belgium. IFB mobilises and connects investors, financial institutions, foundations, impact funds and ecosystem actors to increase their funding to solutions addressing major societal and environmental challenges. Its activities are structured around 4 key pillars, including Catalyse, which focuses on setting-up initiatives that aim at unlocking and deploying funding for high-impact, thematic initiatives in close collaboration with its members. IFB’s objective is to mobilize 30% of assets under management in Belgium with positive impact by 2030, with a focus on sustainable and impact investing strategies.
Role Overview
Impact Finance Belgium is seeking an experienced Senior Programme Manager – Sustainable & Impact Investing to take a leading role in the design, funding, and delivery of strategic initiatives across IFB’s activities. This senior role is designed for a professional with 8+ years of experience in impact and sustainable investing, a strong financial services background, and consulting experience, ideally within a sustainable finance or ESG team. The Senior Programme Manager will have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, acting as a programme manager for key thematic initiatives and contributing to IFB’s “Catalyse” Pillar and strategic positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Management
Lead and facilitate complex multi-stakeholder initiatives involving IFB members (impact investors, financial institutions, foundations…), public authorities, policymakers, researchers, and other ecosystem actors. Organise meetings, working groups, deep-dives to coordinate with our members and deliver concrete actions aiming at “moving capital”.
Design and manage member-driven collaborative projects, ensuring strong engagement and value creation for IFB members. IFB programmes will focus a.o. on priority impact themes such as the financing of social and affordable housing, sustainable and regenerative agriculture, circular economy,..
Act as a trusted neutral convener and facilitator, ensuring constructive dialogue between stakeholders with diverse objectives, mandates, and levels of maturity in impact and sustainable finance.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders, fostering trust, engagement, and active participation across IFB’s programmes.
Translate diverse stakeholder inputs into coherent deliverables, and recommendations, ensuring that programmes create tangible value for members while advancing IFB’s broader mission to mobilize impact and sustainable investments
Programmatic funding & business development
In close cooperation with the CEO and IFB team, take the lead to develop a new “programmatic funding strategy” for IFB: identify, structure, and secure programmatic/thematic funding for research and collaborative initiatives, including engagement with public, private, and philanthropic funders.
Lead the preparation of funding proposals, budgets, governance structures, and reporting frameworks.
Oversee the execution of funded programmes, ensuring delivery on objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
End-to-end ownership of thematic programmes from strategic design to implementation, in close cooperation with our members and IFB team.
Knowledge management & research: Impact and Sustainable Investing Expertise
Provide expertise in impact investing and sustainable investing/finance across IFB’s activities, contributing to the strategic design and delivery of programmes, research initiatives, and ecosystem actions.
Oversee and contribute to research, knowledge creation and market analysis on impact finance themes in close collaboration with IFB members and IFB team.
Initiates, oversees and delivers reports and white papers.
Knowledge and Experience
The Ideal candidate should have:
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 8 years of professional experience in impact and/or sustainable investing, sustainable finance, or related fields.
Strong financial services background (e.g. asset management, banking, investment funds, development finance,…) and or prior consulting experience, preferably in a sustainable finance or ESG team.
Demonstrated experience in programme management, including multi-stakeholder and funded initiatives
Proven experience with programmatic funding, grants, or commissioned research projects is a strong asset.
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Sustainability, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
Strong programme ownership and strategic leadership capabilities
Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills
Ability to structure complex initiatives and manage diverse stakeholder interests
High level of autonomy, accountability, and results orientation
Fluency in English; French and/or Dutch is required
Strong alignment with IFB’s mission and values
