COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Are you ready to support the circular economy and support the shaping and execution of EUCOBAT’s communication strategy?
EUCOBAT, is the European association of national collection schemes for waste batteries. Our members play a key role in implementing EU battery legislation and advancing the circular economy through effective collection and take back of waste batteries. EUCOBAT is an international non-profit association, representing national compliance schemes for waste batteries and helps its members organize the collection, re-use and recycling of waste batteries as easily and efficiently as possible. EUCOBAT was founded in 2011 and now counts 30 members in 24 countries across Europe, and in Canada and Australia.
As the European policy framework for batteries continues to evolve, you will be responsible in supporting and executing EUCOBAT’s communication strategy. You will support position EUCOBAT and its members as a trusted voice in battery sustainability, policy, and compliance.
What will you do:
- You will support EUCOBAT’s communication strategy in line with EU sustainability and regulatory priorities. Your work will support our members and strengthen EUCOBAT’s role and visibility in European battery, circular economy, and environmental policy discussions.
- You will manage the external communication channels, publications, and digital presence and support content creation across channels (website, publications, social media, newsletters)
- You manage relationships with members, partners, media, and external agencies
- You oversee campaigns, reports, and event communications
- You support and maintain EUCOBAT’s internal platform to facilitate communication within the association
- You support Board and General Assembly meetings organizing internal and external (international) events as well as managing communication for these events
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
- You have a senior-level experience in communication
- You have genuine passion for environment and circular economy
- You have a strong understanding of EU policy processes, sustainability, or regulated sectors
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are an asset)
- You have a strong strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution skills
- You have ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling messages
- You are comfortable working in an international, member-driven organization
- You have the ability to work closely within a small team
- You have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- You have sense of responsibility and ability to take ownership
Extra valuable qualifications which will help you:
- You have experience working with associations, public bodies, or member-based organizations is a strong advantage.
- You have understanding of extended producer responsibility, batteries, battery collection, battery recycling and re-use.

As Communication Director, you report directly to the Secretary General. The office is located in Brussels, Belgium.
