Internship Position
The Robotics, Mechanisms & Structure (RMS) Team is looking for motivated master’s students to contribute to the upgrade of a safety-rated PLC controller for our mobile gravity off-loading system, MOGOS.
Developed by Space Applications Services, MOGOS is a cutting-edge ceiling robotic platform designed to simulate extra-vehicular activities on the lunar surface. It enables astronauts and robotic systems to train under realistic reduced-gravity conditions, supporting future Moon exploration missions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project that supports the future lunar exploration missions.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 6 months
* Start date: At the earliest.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Integrate the new safety-rated PLC into the MOGOS robotic vehicles.
* Assist in the laboratory safety testing and supporting the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) certification process.
* Contribute to the creation and maintenance of system safety documentation.
* Depending on your profile and interests, you may also be involved in optimising the onboard motion control algorithms and/or the telemetry integration and interfacing with the Command & Control.
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Software Engineering or similar
* Experience with:
o PLC and/or low-level robotic automates
o Back-end software development using languages
* A proactive approach, with initiative and ability to work independently
* Ability to synthesise, summarise and draw conclusions
* Ability to work in distributed international teams
* Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
* Good written and spoken English.
