We are hiring a Regional HR Manager at Canonical to support our EMEA region. With over 1,100 colleagues across 75 countries, we require a global-minded HR function. The successful candidate will report to our Global Head of HR and help build our HR capabilities during our growth phase. This role involves leading the EMEA HR team, ensuring compliant and scalable HR operations, advising on HR issues throughout the employee lifecycle, and partnering with regional senior leadership. A data-driven, detail-oriented approach is essential.
Responsibilities include:
1. Leading and scaling the regional HR team (1-4 direct reports)
2. Delivering accurate and compliant HR operations
3. Collaborating with Talent Science and Workplace Engineering teams
4. Managing talent development, succession planning, performance assessments, onboarding, culture, and engagement initiatives
5. Working with senior managers on performance management, organizational design, and workforce planning
6. Coaching managers on employee relations issues across countries
7. Supporting training and development programs
8. Building trusted regional business partnerships
9. Driving diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
10. Designing policies and leading HR projects globally
11. Representing Canonical's HR practices at company events
Candidate profile:
* Strong academic background from high school and university
* HR experience leading regional initiatives in tech companies
* People management skills
* Experience partnering with senior stakeholders
* Hands-on involvement in daily HR routines
* Experience in remote-first organizations
* Data literacy for decision-making
* Knowledge of HR practices and employment law across EMEA
* Fluent in English (spoken and written)
* Motivated, organized, confident, results-oriented, open-minded, energetic
* Willing to travel up to 4 times per year
Nice-to-have skills:
* Experience with immigration and mobility policies
* HR professional qualification (CIPD/SHRM)
* Facilitation skills
