Portfolio manager - defence & Security
We are currently looking for a Principal Portfolio Manager to strengthen our team and lead portfolio management initiatives within the Defence & Security sector.
This senior role requires strong leadership in portfolio design, project execution, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and long-term transformation goals.
Key responsibilities
Design and implement a portfolio & program management framework aligned with division strategy
Enhance and improve portfolio management processes and foster a culture of adaptability and change
Define priorities within the portfolio to ensure optimal resource allocation
Drive the execution of programs and projects, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction
Monitor and report progress using KPIs and performance indicators
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks across the portfolio
Stay informed about industry standards, methodologies, and best practices
Required skills & experience
Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in related fields
Solid expertise in portfolio and project management
Experience in complex systems and IT programmes (defence, Telecom, intelligence, surveillance, or related areas)
Proven track record in progress tracking and reporting
Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent)
Nice-to-have qualifications
Portfolio Management certification (e.g. Management of Portfolios - MOP)
Certification in Risk Management
Experience in long-term IT portfolio planning
Strong skills in developing KPIs and quality frameworks
Soft skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Collaborative team player
Proactive and solutions-driven
Additional information
Languages: English (mandatory)
Location: South of Brussels area (easy access from the capital)
Work setup: On-site role with limited remote flexibility
Start date: Mid-November 2025
Contract: 6 months, with possible extensions into 2026-2027
