About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our client's Testudo squad, driving the evolution of a central data platform powering risk and credit intelligence. This is a freelance opportunity for 12 months, based in Brussels, with a hybrid work model (50% on-site, 50% remote). You'll be at the heart of a mission-critical initiative, ensuring the data backbone for risk, credit, and regulatory functions is robust, future-ready, and built for impact.

What You'll Be Doing
* Lead the transition to near real-time (streaming) data feeds for the central risk & credit data store
* Define and support the rollout of outbound REST/JSON APIs
* Integrate new data sets, expanding the platform's reach and capabilities
* Explore and prototype natural language querying for next-gen data access
* Analyze and enhance complex, legacy, or partially implemented use cases
* Collaborate with developers to ensure robust, accurate delivery of new features
* Test new developments and support seamless production deployments
* Maintain and evolve the data model, ensuring scalability and quality
* Profile, analyze, and document data structures, quality, and limitations
* Define mapping and transformation rules for data integration
* Assist users in understanding and leveraging available data assets
* Work closely with developers, architects, and analysts in an agile squad
* Drive agile ceremonies and continuous delivery practices
* Produce clear documentation, requirements, and test scenarios
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in data-driven environments
* Proven track record in squads developing databases for complex use cases (AI, stress testing, advanced queries)
* Strong SQL expertise and hands-on data analysis skills
* Experience in functional and technical analysis, requirements documentation, and testing
* Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
* Experience with credit products, credit processes, and large-scale IT projects
* Agile squad experience in large, complex organizations
* Ownership mindset: proactive, autonomous, and impact-driven
* Exceptional analytical, synthesis, and communication skills
* Team player with a project-oriented, quality-focused approach
* Ability to thrive in dynamic, multicultural environments
Technical Skills
* SQL (advanced)
* Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
* Testing and validation of data solutions
* Basic programming knowledge (ability to discuss code)
* Experience with Oracle or Sybase IQ (preferred)
* Informatica ETL (preferred)
* Linux familiarity (preferred)
Language Proficiency
* Dutch: Fluent/good speaking & understanding, basic/good writing
* French: Fluent/good speaking & understanding, basic/good writing
* English: Fluent in writing, good speaking & understanding
* Fluency in at least Dutch or French is required.
Other Requirements
* University or college degree preferred
* Strong mathematics background (education or professional experience)
* Experience with credit risk and EU regulations (e.g., MCD, Basel III) is a plus
* Background in economics and/or mathematics is valued
* Knowledge of large financial institutions' business or IT environments is a plus
