CONTEXT
As a regulated payment institution, compliance and financial crime prevention are core to Paynovate’s operations.
We are looking for a Head of Compliance & MLRO to lead the Compliance function and ensure strong regulatory governance across the organization.
Reporting to the CEO and interacting regularly with the Board and Risk Committee, you will oversee the company’s compliance framework and lead a team of around 10 professionals covering regulatory compliance, AML/CFT and KYC operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the Compliance function
Define and oversee Paynovate’s compliance framework in line with regulatory expectations and the company’s risk appetite
Lead and structure the Compliance team, ensuring clear responsibilities and effective coordination across compliance activities
Ensure the Compliance function operates as an independent and effective second line of defense
Oversee AML/CFT and Financial Crime
Act as MLRO, overseeing the company’s AML/CFT framework and financial crime risk management
Ensure effective monitoring, reporting, and remediation processes
Supervise AML/KYC activities and guide the organization on financial crime risks
Compliance Risk Management
Identify and monitor compliance risks in collaboration with Risk Management
Maintain a risk-based compliance program and ensure policies, procedures, and controls are properly implemented
Ensure the organization remains aligned with evolving regulatory requirements
Governance & Reporting
Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management, the Board, and the Risk Committee
Maintain constructive interaction with supervisory authorities
Provide guidance to management on regulatory developments and compliance risks
THE RIGHT FIT
Minimum 5 years of experience in Compliance roles, ideally within financial services, fintech, or payments
Experience in AML/CFT and financial crime risk management
Certification issued by Febelfin or Assuralia and validated by the FSMA is required for this regulated function
Experience interacting with regulators or supervisory authorities is a strong asset
Background in payments or electronic money institutions is a plus
Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills
Able to operate effectively in a fast‑paced and evolving environment
Fluency in English required; French or Dutch is a strong asset
