The organization is looking for a System Engineer specialized in API Management to support its digital transformation and evolving energy market activities.
The role focuses on designing, implementing, and operating a robust API management platform within a modern, cloud-native, container-based ecosystem.
The engineer will play a key role in:
* Ensuring high-quality system delivery in an integrated IT landscape
* Supporting secure, scalable, and reusable API design
* Driving API governance, standardization, and observability
* Contributing to the evolution toward platform engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation and industrialization
The position requires close collaboration with enterprise architecture, technical teams, product, and security stakeholders, and the ability to work in a technology-agnostic mindset for future solutions.
Responsibilities
* Advise on and manage the setup and evolution of the API Management platform
* Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and technical architecture
* Define, enforce, and maintain API standards, policies, and governance frameworks
* Support development teams in building secure, consistent, and reusable APIs
* Ensure compliance, observability, and lifecycle management of APIs
* Contribute to container-based platform services using Kubernetes
* Participate in the transition toward platform engineering, including automation and self-service capabilities
* Support the industrialization of API delivery and operations
Activities
* Configure, manage, and optimize API management solutions (currently based on Kong, with openness to alternatives like Google Apigee)
* Design and maintain API documentation and standards
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, product, security)
* Implement and monitor API governance frameworks
* Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for API deployment
* Ensure monitoring, logging, and observability using tools such as ELK and Datadog
* Work with AWS services (EKS, SQS, S3) in a cloud-native environment
* Participate in Kubernetes-based platform design, maintenance, and evolution
* Support GraphQL and REST API design and integration
* Contribute to system reliability, scalability, and performance improvements
Core Technical Skills
* Strong understanding of API management principles
* Hands-on experience with API management tools (Kong, Google Apigee)
* Knowledge of GraphQL
* Experience with AWS services (EKS, SQS, S3)
* Solid experience with Kubernetes
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
* Experience in monitoring and logging in cloud-native environments (ELK, Datadog)
* Knowledge of Java Spring Boot development
Languages
* Fluent in English, Dutch, and French
Nice to Have
* Familiarity with PostgreSQL
* Experience with Kafka (Confluent)
Additional Requirements
* You have at least 3 years of professional experiences in IT
* If you are at least fluent in FR/ENG or NL/ENG it’s best
