Legal & Compliance Officer
We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Officer to join our Internal Services department based in Louvain-la-Neuve. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will be working closely with the Business and the rest of the Legal Team on the autonomous drafting, negotiating, and managing of commercial contracts across the two Business Units, and providing pragmatic, solution‑oriented legal advice and training to internal stakeholders, as well as assist on ad‑hoc legal projects.

What You’ll Do
* Contractual & Advisory Support
o Contract review & set‑up: Drafting, reviewing, amending and negotiating general commercial contracts (e.g. RFP & tenders, sales & SaaS master agreements, statements of work, procurement and supplier contracts, service agreements, letters of intent, MOU, NDA, DPA, partnerships, etc.) across the two N‑SIDE Business Units (Life Science & Energy).
o Contract management: manage the contract life cycle from request to filing, including review in close collaboration with business and internal stakeholders (Finance, Business Development, HR, Senior Management).
o Advice: Provide practical, solution‑oriented & business‑oriented advice to the Business on legal and contractual aspects.
o Training: Design and deliver internal legal and contractual training as needed.
o Processes: Work with the rest of the Legal team, Compliance team and business stakeholders on internal best practices and contract processes or tools.
* Regulatory & Compliance
o Governance & Ethics: Steer the Company’s Governance & Ethics domain, including the Code of Conduct and Whistleblowing framework, acting as the primary neutral body.
o Privacy advisory: Serve as the advisory lead for GDPR requirements and the Privacy Committee, supporting other teams with compliance in a decentralized "self‑control" compliance model.
o Regulatory oversight: Monitor local and international regulations to provide regulatory reference guiding and defining required compliance or certification efforts on respective domains, supporting operational teams in implementing effective compliance measures.
o Audit & Risk Mitigation: Coordinate internal audits and compliance checks, acting as backup for the audit function to ensure non‑conformities are addressed and business risks mitigated.
o Training & Empowerment: Develop, deliver, and monitor effectiveness of compliance training across functions to ensure teams are equipped to handle delegated regulatory and compliance responsibilities effectively.
* General Legal Affairs & Specialized Support
o Intellectual Property: Protect the company’s core assets by advising on IP strategy, managing the trademark portfolio, etc.
o Litigation: Manage potential disputes or claims, coordinating with external counsel if needed.
o Corporate: Support corporate governance activities, in particular board and shareholders management, across N‑SIDE’s affiliated companies.
o Ad‑hoc Legal Projects: Tackle diverse legal challenges such as insurance renewals, real estate leases, supporting strategic M&A or financing activities.
About You
* Minimum 2‑5 years experience in an in‑house Legal/Compliance function preferably within an international corporate environment.
* Experience with contract drafting, review and negotiation, able to handle both recurring small contracts and complex high‑value agreements.
* Master’s Degree in Law or Compliance.
* Solid expertise in GDPR compliance and familiarity with EU whistleblower protection, antitrust frameworks, and compliance risk management.
* Experience in compliance, legal, internal audit or internal investigations is a plus.
* Very rigorous attention to detail, results‑oriented, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize own work.
* Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously, work under pressure and business constraints.
* Great business acumen and customer‑focus.
* Ability to work within a team environment, effectively communicate, be proactive and resilient to stress.
* Fluent in English and French.
