Position
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer – Machining to join our team in Zaventem, Belgium (occasional assignments at production sites may apply).
You will be responsible for developing and implementing machining processes for new projects and optimizing existing operations, ensuring Quality, Cost, and Schedule objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Process Definition and Optimization: define, validate, and document machining processes; optimize existing operations (cutting conditions, tooling, cycle times), particularly for hard metals such as titanium, Inconel, and stainless steels.
* Participate in FMEA / APQP sessions and propose technical improvements and design adjustments to facilitate manufacturing and reduce costs.
* Process Implementation: ensure smooth introduction of new or modified processes on the shop floor; support operators during first article manufacturing; monitor quality and dimensional performance; implement corrective actions as needed.
* Define and validate standard times and technical documentation in ERP systems.
* Collaborate with the Tooling Design team to optimize fixtures and tools.
* Provide daily technical support to production, quality, and maintenance teams.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing deployment within machining activities.
Profile
* Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 4 years in machining methods or industrialization, preferably in aerospace or automotive industries.
* Strong knowledge of:
* Machining hard metals and related cutting conditions.
* Cutting tools and tool life management.
* CNC programming principles (Siemens language sufficient).
* APQP / Risk Assessment methodology.
* Experience with CATIA V5 for plan reading and model interpretation.
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization.
* Fluent in English; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is an asset.
* Autonomous and structured.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Agile mindset with hands-on problem-solving attitude.
