We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to help elevate the engineering organization at an innovative design company. As Head of Engineering, I’m focused on building a high-performing culture rooted in quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement—and I’m looking for strong leaders to help make that happen.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll work closely with your team, contributing code, reviewing pull requests, and solving technical challenges while also developing people and driving performance. You’ll balance technical contribution with leadership—this is not a role where you step away from the keyboard.
You’ll have direct company-level impact, partnering with the Head of Engineering to grow engineers, implement best practices, and lead the team through meaningful growth and change.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and manage a team of 5–8 engineers, providing technical direction and career development
* Balance hands-on technical contribution with people leadership and team growth
* Partner with the Head of Engineering to implement and drive engineering transformation initiatives
* Help define the engineering roadmap, including how AI can enhance products and internal processes
* Foster a culture of candid feedback, accountability, and continuous learning
* Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to deliver high-quality solutions
* Establish and reinforce engineering standards, best practices, and processes
* Coach team members to elevate their technical skills and professional impact
* Contribute to hiring and scaling the engineering organization
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working in an agency or consulting environment, with an understanding of client delivery, shifting priorities, and managing multiple projects
* 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong technical depth
* 2+ years of direct people management experience leading engineering teams
* Proven track record of improving team performance and developing engineering talent
* Strong communication skills and comfort giving and receiving candid feedback
* Experience balancing technical contribution with people management responsibilities
* Comfortable working in a hybrid setup in Antwerp, Belgium
Our Technical Environment
The engineering team builds across mobile and web platforms, using native mobile technologies (Swift, Kotlin, KMP), React, React Native, and multiple backend technologies. While specific stack expertise isn’t required, you should be able to build credibility and lead effectively across diverse platforms and technical domains.
