About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Ocean Freight to lead our operations across the Benelux. This critical role, based in either Antwerp or Rotterdam, will replace our current Director who has been promoted within the organization. The successful candidate will provide strong commercial and operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team of 10 Branch Ocean Managers across the region.
- Full P&L and operational responsibility for Ocean Freight in Benelux.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow market share, improve efficiency, and maximise profitability.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with customers, shipping lines, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure outstanding customer experience and operational performance throughout the region. - Frequent travel required:
- Benelux: Visit each country once per week.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant international trade and shipping regulations.
- Report regularly on KPIs, market trends, and performance metrics.
Requirements:
- Proven managerial experience in Ocean Freight, preferably at a senior or director level.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end ocean freight operations, commercial activities, and regional markets.
- Fluency in English and Dutch is essential; German or other European languages are a significant advantage.
- Exceptional leadership and people development skills.
- Demonstrable experience in handling a P&L.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Benelux.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
