Mission
As a Freelance Business Controller, you act as a strategic finance partner to project managers and senior management. You ensure financial transparency across construction projects and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as financial business partner to project and operations managers
* Monitor and analyze project profitability, costs, margins, and cash flow
* Prepare and challenge budgets, forecasts, and financial projections
* Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actuals) and identify risks/opportunities
* Support month-end and year-end controlling processes
* Develop and improve management reporting and KPI dashboards
* Provide financial insights to support investment, pricing, and resource decisions
* Contribute to the improvement of financial processes and internal controls
* Collaborate closely with accounting, project management, and senior leadership
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience as a Business Controller, preferably in construction, engineering, or project-based environments xphnsxz
* Strong understanding of project controlling, WIP, percentage-of-completion, and cost control
* Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills
* Hands-on mentality with the ability to work independently
* Strong communication skills, able to challenge stakeholders constructively
* Solid knowledge of Excel; experience with ERP systems is a strong asset
* Fluent in Dutch; good working knowledge of English
